LAGOS PROCUREMENT AGENCY HOLDS MANAGEMENT RETREAT

The Lagos State Public Procurement Agency has held a three-day management staff retreat to broaden the knowledge of its employees on the Emerging Smart City initiative as well as for efficient service delivery in line with the agency’s enabling law.

The retreat themed: “Strategy Management and Frontline Leadership” held at Whispering Palms, Badagry was aimed at energising the management staff and enhancing their operational capacity for development.

Declaring the retreat open, the General Manager, Lagos State Public Procurement Agency Mr. Idowu Onafowote said the Agency remains committed to moving the State forward with realistic public procurement processes and practices, hence the need to strategise to achieve its vision and mission.

He said there is need to create an effective linkage that transcends situational and temporary changes in all aspects of the Agency’s operations, thereby enjoining all management staff to put in more efforts to improve at their jobs.

“I want you to bear in mind that most of the activities that have to do with goods, works and services of MDAs pass through the Agency; in view of this we need to work hard and deliver to expectations”, Onafowote noted.

Barrister Ayo Adebusoye, a member of Lagos State public procurement Agency governing Board, enjoined the participants to be more proactive to meet the demands that arise as a result of change in technology and processes in pursuance of the strategic vision as well as changes in societal demands.

He added that the passion of the present administration for best practices in economic growth and infrastructural development cannot be overemphasised, stressing that there is a need to strike a prudent balance between phase growth and scarce resources.
